Health Walks
TRC and the City of Mississauga Recreation and Parks are working together to provide a series of informative and healthy walks at Riverwood and Erindale. Meet at the main (first) parking lot at Riverwood.
History of Riverwood
Monday, July 19, 7:00 - 8:30 pm
This heart-healthy walk combines a look at Riverwood's rich history with a brisk heart-healthy walk along the Culham Trail. Meet Dave Taylor and Mike Erison at 7 pm in the main parking lot. Be sure to dress for a brisk walk.
The Future of Riverwood
Saturday, August 21, 9:00 - 10:30 am
This heart-healthy walk looks at what the future holds for Riverwood. When will the new gardens open to the public? What new birds have been seen this year? Are there other species we expect to see here? What is happening with our elementary and secondary education programs? Riverwood is constantly changing, through the seasons, through the years. The second half of this program is a brisk good-for-your-heart walk along the Culham Trail. Meet Dave Taylor and Mike Erison at the main (first) parking lot.
Fall Migration at Riverwood
Saturday, September 18, 9:00 - 10:30 am
In the first half of this heart-healthy walk, we will look for our fall migrating birds. In the second half, participants will enjoy a brisk walk through the property. Meet Dave Taylor and Mike Erison at 9 am in the main (first) parking lot. Be sure to dress appropriately for brisk activity.
After the walk, participants are invited to join us for Doors Open Mississauga activities including a chance to go inside Chappell House, a tasty BBQ and perhaps make a purchase at the plant sale organized by the Mississauga Master Gardeners.
Astronomy Series Presented by RASC (Mississauga)
Members of the Earthshine Astronomy and Space Science Organization and the Mississauga Centre of the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada, in partnership with The Riverwood Conservancy, invite you to explore the universe at Riverwood. Bring your binoculars, a clipboard and a flashlight. Star maps will be distributed. Telescopes will be set up for observing the moon, planets and stars on the lawn in front of Chappell House. Please note: The event will be held on the first date shown – the second date is a back-up date in case skies are not suitable for star-gazing on the scheduled date.
